I have been selling items on ebay for quite some time, but selling odds and ends or antiques that I've come across has had me simply spinning my wheels and getting nowhere financially. Has anyone actually made a career out of ebay? What did you/do you sell? I really need help with this. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe a "supplimental career" like if your spouse works and you're just helping to provide income. I don't know that you would be able to support a whole family off of ebay selling alone.
Some tips here:

You can, you just have to know that the items you are selling are going to be able to get the prices you need to make a go at it. If you love to shop and have access to great deals you could do very well.

Yes there is. If you google the ebay careers than you will see many people have done it. There are even stores that will sell your stuff for a certain percentage of the earnings. I would say that you should look into the many articles about it on google.

Yes, if you have a resellers license you can do this. You dont have to pay for the property, utilities, etc of running a real live store either. You just kinda gotta take a bite on the selling price. I guess its better to make fast nickels than slow dimes.

You have to sell a lot of things for a profit.
For example, if you buy a chair for $10, fix it up a bit and set your minimum bid to $15. (But keep it reasonable.)
You just have to sell a lot of things for more than you paid for them.

My mom did it for a while but she knows antiques like the back of her hand. She would constantly go to auctions and buy them and she made pretty good money. If you go to the right auctions and know what you're looking for you can do quite well. She has bought boxes of "junk" for one item in it and turned around and sold it for multiple hundreds of dollars. Thing is she spent more time doing that than she would have at a regular job. It's possible but you'll have to put in your dues.

I have a friend that has opened her own business selling things on ebay. She is renting a building and offers selling things for everyone in the public. She runs it like a consignment shop would. You tell her what you want for the item and she sets a reserve a little higher so she makes money off of the item as well and she has done great as her and her husband we able to both quit their full time jobs and run this business. Good Luck!

There was a time when you could actually make a decent career out of selling on eBay but I think that it is much harder now.
You can still do it, you just have to work a lot of hours to make a decent living.

you sure can,but you need to sell something that is in high demand though. Like, i work at a chevy dealership and one of the regular guys that we sell car parts to buys about $3000 worth every month. He buys this stuff then puts it up for auction. He may have another job, but i dont think so, but he makes a killing because since he has been coming here for like 12 years we give him dealer cost. Say like, a hot seller of his is a chevy bowtie emblem. he buys it from us for $12 then turns around and sells it fo $20 easy. So that 80% profit.
Its possible, you just have to know what to sell!!

The answer is yes you can. However; the truth is very few do and most of those who do already have a business and ebay is just one component. The key to making money on ebay is still marketing. If you don't have the marketing skills, the time, or the money to market properly, you could have the best product for the best price and go broke. Don't do it unless you have the business skills, marketing skills, time and money. Many poor folk become much poorer after trying and today so many people are trying ebay is the real winner. Personally, 90% of the time I can find the item I want for a lower cost locally. I think the public is starting to catch on…
