eBay will make some money off of any item you list/sell. It is a "business" after-all and the primary way in which they earn their profits as a company.

When you initially list an item there will be what is called a "listing or insertion fee". This will be a flat rate based on the price in which you begin your auction. For example a product who's listing you start at $0.99 may have a $1.00 listing fee while a product that you list at an initial bidding of $1000 may have a listing fee of $10.00. There are also various options which will increase your initial costs such as: pistures, subtitles, multiple categories, bold, highlighted, etc., but these options may also increse the listing exposure and therefore the likelihood of higher bids.

Once the product sells you will then pay a % of the price i nwhich you sold the item for.

So the price the product sold for - all of these costs = your profit.
References :
You get all the *profit*, yes. Remember that the word profit means, whatever is left after you subtract all your expenses.

So you get the total amount the item sells for MINUS what you have to pay to eBay and what you have to pay to ship the item. That's your profit.
References :
check it out! they only take a small listing fee varying but what you want your listing to include. Example: 1 pic is free but any additional pictures you add are .15 putting a reserve on your listing is around 2.00 when you start creating your listing it will tell you exactly how much everything costs and total it out at the end of the page. The highest mine has ever been was about 2.40 with a reserve. They take it directly out of the money the buyer sends you. It's really not a big deal at all. Start here http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll and you will see how much it will cost... if you wish not to post your listing simply exit out of the browser. :)
References :
You should try craigslist.org in you're area first. It's free and local, so no shipping and you get you're cash immediately.

ebay charges a percentage of the sale. Just go to ebay.com and look at the selling terms.
References :
eBay and PayPal are riddled with fees, but not so much that they're not worth using. If you're going to sell an item for a total of $150, for example, what will eventually end up in your bank account is about $142. You're charged a final value fee, listing fees, and payment acceptance fees by PayPal, which is the way to accept money on eBay.
References :
A Ebay Store is a very good, low price store to get started. But many people put items in their store that just doesn't sell.

It isn't really a question about how to find stuff to sell but more of a question of finding items THAT sell. There are tons of people who have tried to sell items they bought wholesale on Ebay and end up with only a few clicks/views. There is a trick that Power Sellers use to find the "Hot Items". "Hot Items" are those that get alot of views which therefore get alot of buys.

You can read about that trick and watch a quick video at http://www.offcost.com/ebay
References :
http://www.offcost.com/ebay

You can't sell custom on Ebay. It has to be the exact item, already made. I suggest using your own website. You can start a free one at Tripod or someplace like that, then upgrade to ad-free as the money comes in.

You have to have a store via eBay Stores in order to set up a store on eBay. You are not, however, limited by the eBay designs. You can have many different designs for your store.
